The blue haired teen mumbled to himself. Of course he had forgotten his umbrella. Malachi walked down the halls, saying goodbye to some of his classmates. He even greeted and said goodbye to some of the other students he did not know. It was just always in his nature to be friendly, even if he was not in the best of moods. After all, everyone else's happiness was held higher than his own, and he loved to make everyone smile. The French boy just had some strange charisma that made everyone around him happy. Something about his smile just seemed to be contagious. Not that he minded. Everyone needed to smile at least once a day. Closing his eyes, he pushed the front door open, bracing himself for the cold downpour that was to come. What a bother. They needed some nice weather, not this annoying, bothersome rain.
He made his way over towards a tree that stood in the courtyard. Besides, he needed to check his phone real quick and did not want it to get wet. Fortunately the tree kept him from the rain. Shaking his cyan hair free of water, he took his phone from his pocket and scrolled through the text messages he had. There had been one from one of his roommates, saying that it would be a while before they got back to the room. Fortunately Malachi had grabbed his dorm key this morning before leaving for class. The boy yawned quietly, looking around to see a lot of the students were already headed back to the dorms. Perhaps it would be best if he were to follow their example and head to his own dorm. It would not be long until the night class showed up.
Right before he walked away from the tree, something had fallen on his head. An involuntary gasp escaped his lips. He reached up with both hands, pulling a small, white kitten off of his head. It had brown ears and just seemed so sopping wet. Poor little thing. Malachi grinned a bit, bringing the kitten to his face to rub their noses together as he cooed at the kitten. It was quite adorable, to say the least. He examined the kitten for a bit, and well, upon closer inspection he had found it was a female cat. Of course he quickly looked away after noticing that little bit. Glancing around, he smiled a bit before tucking the kitten into the side of his coat.
"Let's get you dried up, all right?"
He had no idea who the kitten may have belonged to, but surely he would find out and give them a piece of his mind before giving the poor, precious baby back. Malachi made his way towards his dorm, making sure to keep the kitten out of sight. After all, out of sight, out of mind right? The cyan haired teen had reached his dorm. He fished around in his pocket before he found his dorm key and unlocked the door. It seemed no one was there at the time. How fortunate for him. Malachi closed the door behind himself and placed the kitten down on his bed before going to the bathroom to grab a small towel. As he returned, he began to dry off the kitten with the towel, smiling a bit and placing a light kiss on the top of its head.
"Make yourself comfortable. I'll be right back."
With that said, he took the towel and made his way back to the bathroom and closed the door. |

JUST A TRICK OF LIGHT Sometimes Mika wandered off into her own little world--a world where it was always sunny, a world where no one fought, a world where everyone loved her-- and it was at such times that she got into the most trouble. Not in her world, of course, but rather in the real one. Sneaking her way out of her classroom in kitty form, Mika decided that she didn't want to spend the last class of the day actually attending the lesson. She'd much rather spend it outside on her own.
Reaching the great outdoors, Mika turned her nose to the air and took in a deep breath. It was still sunny out, though she did notice a few clouds lurking in the distance, and she began to play around, pouncing on blades of grass twitching in the wind, chasing bugs, and rolling pebbles around. Occasionally she turned her round brown eyes up to the sky, sensing that it would be raining soon, and the sight of the clouds gathering and blocking out the sunshine she so badly wanted was enough to lower her spirits in spite of the fun she'd been having. It was more fun being a cat rather than a human, and it was far easier to let her imagination run wild when everything looked so much bigger.
Mika was especially small for her age when it came to her kitty form. She was still small enough to be mistaken for a kitten, and while it bothered her sometimes, for the most part she didn't really dwell on it. It was a hindrance, however, when there was bad weather outside. She was easily blown away by strong wind, and puddles of rainwater sometimes felt like lakes to her, and she did her best not to stay out while it was raining. Mika probably would have ran for the warmth of the school building if she hadn't realized too late that it had already started raining, and the sudden downpour made her panic and run for the nearest tree. She was already soaked by the time she reached the safety of the one of the lower branches, and her happy moment was turned into a miserable one.
Like many small cats after a day packed with "hunting" --in Mika's case, chasing and pouncing on anything that moved-- the kitten soon found herself feeling sleepy. She closed her eyes for what seemed like only a second, and the next thing she knew she was falling on somebody's head. A small squeaky meow of surprise escaped her, but she was soon calmed down as she was pulled off the stranger's head and found herself face to face with a boy smiling at her. It was such a disarming smile, Mika instantly relaxed in his grasp, and as he rubbed their noses together, her pink tongue darted out in an attempt to lick the tip of his nose, a loud purr starting up in her throat and vibrating through her ribcage.
Mika was perfectly happy to be taken anywhere by the cyan-haired boy, and she continued to purr and press affectionately to him the entire way to the dorm. She also clearly enjoyed being dried out with a towel, occasionally giving little "Nya!~"s as she demanded more attention as if he weren't already focused on drying her. It wasn't until the friendly stranger pressed a kiss to her head and walked off to who-knows-where that Mika realized exactly where she was--The male dormitories. Clearly, this being her first time setting foot or paw in them, they needed to explored starting with the room she was currently in.
Shifting back into her human form, Mika began to wander the room, poking and prodding at things, peeking under beds and in drawers while being careful not to actually move anything from where it was first placed. Could her savior possibly come back at any second? Yes, he most certainly would. Did she worry he'd noticed that she'd changed forms? No, she'd forgotten to.

Malachi smiled to himself, looking for another towel to use to dry his hair. Pulling his cyan hair from its pony tail, he allowed it to cascade down his back as he began to dry it with the towel in hand. Still, he could only wonder what that little kitten was doing high up in a tree like that. That was the last thing he needed to be concerned about. Peeling out of his jacket and shirt, he laid them aside. Both were rather wet from the rain. Perhaps it would have been smart to grab a shirt before heading back into the bathroom again. Oh, well. It's not like anyone was waiting on the other side of the door. Other than a little kitten that was. But there was no way it was aware of anything right? The French boy sighed, touselling his hair a bit before grabbing a brush to comb through it.
After he was satisfied, he pulled it back up and fixed his bangs a bit. Malachi examined himself in the mirror a bit. Fortunately he seemed a bit more lively than usual with the lack of sleep and whatnot. Even so, he ran some water in the sink, splashing it onto his face, then wiped his face off, throwing the towel around his neck. Hopefully the little kitten had not made a mess, or if she did, hopefully it was nothing too bad. As he opened the door, he looked to see his room was still in order, but what caught his eye was some girl who had dared to come into his dorm and search through his belongings. The nerve of some people! He furrowed his eyebrows before clearing his throat rather loudly.
"Pardon, are you lost?"
He rested a hand on his waist, watching the girl for a moment before taking a calm stride over to his closet to pull a shirt off of one of the hooks, then tossed the towel he had around his neck onto the edge of his bed. Slipping his arms into the shirt, Malachi began to button it from the bottom to top. Hopefully this young woman had a decent explanation as to what she was doing in his room. Glancing around, he did not see the fluffy white kitten with those darling brown ears anywhere around the room. Raising an eyebrow, Malachi turned to look at the girl, folding his arms over his chest.
"I had a kitten in here. Did you do something with her? Or did you carelessly let her run out the door?" |
